Shepperton Community Recycling Centre on Charlton Lane, known locally as the Shepperton tip or dump, is where to take your household waste and recycling. Here is when it is open, where it is, and the three rules that catch people out on the way in.

Ordinary household waste is free. Some non-household materials, things like rubble, soil and plasterboard, are classed as chargeable waste. The council publishes the current charges and the full list of what each centre will and will not take, and that list does change, so it is worth a look before you load the car.

Shepperton is one of the permit sites

Only nine of Surrey's fifteen recycling centres take vans, pickups and trailers on a permit. Shepperton is one of them, along with Camberley, Earlswood, Epsom, Guildford, Leatherhead, Lyne, Witley and Woking. If you are hiring a van for a clearance, that is worth knowing before you book.

Do I need to book? No. Surrey's recycling centres are walk-in by car, with no booking needed.

Is it free? Yes for ordinary household waste. Rubble, soil and plasterboard are chargeable, and the council lists the current prices.

Can I take a van, pickup or trailer? Yes, with a permit. Shepperton is one of only nine Surrey sites that accept them.

Can I walk in? No. Pedestrians are not allowed on site, so you need to arrive in a vehicle.
