🚙 Shepperton Car Boot: Emma Pattinson
Podcast. Newsletter. Socials.
Hello Sheppertonian 👋
Emma Pattinson takes us behind the scenes of the Shepperton Car Boot, a beloved local fixture that’s been running for 24 years and counting. We chat about how she transformed a family land problem into a vibrant community event that’s all about recycling and finding hidden treasures. From the early days of setting up stalls in spirals to attract more buyers to the well-organised system they have now, Emma shares how hard work and a love for the community keep this event thriving. She tells us that it’s not just about making a quick buck, but creating a friendly space where people can find affordable items and connect with one another. Plus, there's a sprinkle of humour as she shares some of the quirky items and experiences that have popped up over the years. So, if you've been thinking about decluttering or hunting for treasures, tune in for some fun tips and a peek into this local gem!

If you're down at Shepperton Lock on a sunny day, keep an eye out for Donnie's. It's a brand new ice cream bicycle parked by the Ferry slipway, right next to The Ferry Coffee Shop. Proper scooped ice cream, and the best view in Shepperton to eat it with. It only comes out in good weather, so if the bike isn't there, just ask at the Ferry Coffee Shop counter. Named after young Donnie, who tried the first one and announced, "it's not for baby sisters." The reel's on our socials.

The Sheppertonian is paid for by a handful of local businesses through the Business Club, which is what keeps it free for everyone else. This week, thank you to:
The Ferry Coffee Shop: purveyors of fine coffee, tea and snacks, by the lock.
EJ HR Solutions: HR support specialising in logistics.
Meon Media: small business support.
Island Motors: family-run MOT and servicing, who will collect and return your car.
They sit at the top of the Shepperton business directory search results, alongside lots of other local businesses. If you are looking for a plumber, a pub or a dentist, that is the place to start.
Run a business here? A listing is free and always will be. Add yours in two minutes.
